We welcome you to the Salem Public Library Children's Garden - sponsored by the Salem Host Lions Club and the Friends of the Salem Library.
Our Garden includes:
Pollinator plantings - Click on the links below for more information on a specific pollinator plant or when you visit the garden, scan the QR codes on the plant tags for more plant information.
Storywalk with information on:
- Pollinators - bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds
- Pollinator features installed in the Garden:
- Solitary Bee and Lacewing House as bee nursery and winter hibernation
- Butterfly Houses for winter hibernation
- Butterfly Puddlers for the minerals butterflies need
Raised beds with vertical garden examples (cucumbers, tomatoes, and green beans)
Community Playthings Outdoor Furniture for kids - steppers, bridge, benches with shade cloth, and play tables
Please note: Handcrafted natural wooden toys are available for checkout at the Front Desk.
Art Panel - washable markers are available at the Front Desk.
Shade Sail - for added shade; installed by Shade Sail Structure Inc. and professionally engineered by Masters Engineers in Lynchburg, VA
The garden is always open, even when the library is closed.
